The IRS tax season is still running for United States citizens. Any taxpayer has an obligation to send the IRS their tax return before time runs out. It is true that there are still two months to go, but waiting too long in these cases can be counterproductive.
In the case of filing a tax return and sending it to the IRS, there are many citizens who may have problems. Getting help from an economic advisor can make us pay money that we did not plan to spend, so it is important to keep track of everything that the IRS offers us.
There are free programs that will help you submit your tax return to the IRS. Some of these programs are really useful. To be able to apply for them we must fulfill some requirements, but one in particular is for all citizens and its usefulness is very great.
Free programs to send the tax return to the IRS
There are three main programs to get help when sending the tax return to the IRS. These are the programs and their requirements:
- FreeFile Guided Version. The guided version of FreeFile helps us not to make mistakes when sending all the necessary documentation for the tax return. We will have a guide that will tell us how to fill in the documents at every moment. To qualify for this free help, the taxpayer must have had an income of $73,000 or less in 2022.
- FreeFile digital forms. This other free way to receive help from the IRS is for all citizens regardless of income. It is an online form that we can fill out very easily. When it comes to sending it we will have a lot of advantage, since we will not need to move from home and it will speed up our tax refund.
- VITA. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) serves to help all people living in the United States to complete their tax return. Any citizen with problems who meets the requirements can apply for VITA.
- TCE. Finally, Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) is only for retirees and senior citizens. This help is essential for many citizens who are unable to complete the necessary paperwork on their own. It is a free program and its main requirement is to be 60 years of age or older.
Anyway, if you have doubts about your taxes you can always contact the IRS. And remember that you have until April 18th to send in your tax return. There is still time, but the sooner you send it in, the sooner you could receive your tax refund.
