Social Security payment confirmed for April 23th with COLA increase for these retirees only

In any part of the United States, waiting for Social Security payments can be frustrating, especially when others have already got theirs and you’re still checking your account and nothing’s happening. This 23 April, the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) will reach thousands of beneficiaries, but not everyone is on the list. There are specific groups who won’t see the deposit in their checking account this week.

Although the Social Security calendar follows a very clear order, it is not always easy to know which group you belong to. Many beneficiaries receive SSDI along with regular retirement payments, but that does not mean that they all collect at the same time. The birthday and the start date of the benefit are decisive.

If you were expecting to receive your money on the 23rd, you may not be part of the group that collects that week. To better understand the situation, let’s see exactly who will not receive SSDI on that date and what to do in case of doubt.

These are the beneficiaries who will not receive SSDI on April 23

The check for April 23 is reserved exclusively for beneficiaries in Social Security group 4, which includes both retirees and those who get SSDI and started collecting after May 1997, as long as their birthday is between the 21st and 31st of the month.

Therefore, they will not receive the payment on April 23:

  • Those who started collecting their benefit before May 1997.
  • Beneficiaries whose birthday falls between the 1st and the 20th of the month and who started receiving payments after May 1997.

If you belong to any of these three cases, it is completely normal that you have not received any payment on the 23rd. Yours was already deposited on previous dates or will arrive next month according to the Social Security payment cycle.

What to do if the SSDI on the 23rd does not arrive

If you are convinced that you belong to the group that should have been collected on April 23, but you have not received anything, the first thing to do is to check your My Social Security account. There you can verify the date of your next payment and make sure that all your information is up to date.

It is also important to confirm the date you started receiving SSDI and your date of birth, as both factors determine the payment group. Sometimes confusion with this data can lead to you expecting the check in the wrong week.

If in doubt, or if more than three working days have passed without you getting your payment, you can contact the Social Security Customer Service directly. They will be able to give you specific information about your case.

Remember that Social Security payments follow a very precise monthly pattern. Being aware of the dates and understanding how your group works is the best way to avoid surprises or unnecessary worries.
