Supplemental Security Income won’t arrive for several weeks – Find out the exact date

Supplemental Security Income payments do not arrive in January 2024 for the majority of beneficiaries in the United States

Supplemental Security Income is arriving next month

The exact date of the payments that the Social Security Administration sends each month to beneficiaries in the United States is set by the U.S. Government. This makes it possible to know in advance when each of the checks for retirement and other different benefits such as Supplemental Security Income will be cashed.

Although there are sometimes exceptions to the schedule that cause beneficiaries to get their Supplemental Security Income early or late, the schedule is usually very regular. In the month of January we have had one of these exceptions, so some Americans have not yet gotten their SSI payments in the year 2024.

That said, they have been able to enjoy it early, so there is no need to worry about getting a check. By now, all Supplemental Security Income recipients should have the money in their pockets, but there may be some exceptions. In that case we may have to claim the payment from the Social Security Administration.

But in the case of the next SSI payment, we still have to wait a few weeks. But there is a way to get the money as soon as possible. It all depends on whether we have activated the faster payment method.

When exactly will the next Supplemental Security Income check arrive?

The new Supplemental Security Income check will arrive at the beginning of February 2024. This new check will be as high as $943, up from the maximum $914 in 2023. While it is true that it is not the first in the 2024 calendar, it will be the first for many SSI beneficiaries this year.

And that’s because, as we’ve already discussed, the Social Security Administration sent out the January 2024 SSI payment early. So on December 29, 2023, the Administration sent this payment of up to $943, the first of the entire 2024 schedule with the COLA already included.

So between the first of the 2023 Supplemental Security Income payments and the second of the checks there are more days than usual. When the February SSI arrives on the 1st of the month, as is normal in these cases, but with the January SSI payment coming early, there is more difference between the two payments.

On the other hand, we must also take into account that if we do not activate Direct Deposit it will be impossible to get this payment on this particular day. If we do not activate this payment method, the payment could arrive in the days after the 1st of the month and as the 1st of February is Thursday the payment could be delayed until Monday of the next week.

Other next Social Security Payments

Even so, before that payment the Social Security Administration will send up to 3 different payments. These three payments are the retirement benefits for groups 2, 3 and 4. Only post-1997 retirees can get one of these payments. Although each of these days is for a specific group. These groups are configured depending on the retiree’s birthday.

In the case of Supplemental Security Income, there are no requirements or different groups. All payments for this benefit are sent on the same day for the beneficiaries, so there is no need to worry about which group we belong to.

Just by activating Direct Deposit, we can get the SSI payment on the same day it is sent, just like any other Social Security check. So we don’t have to worry about waiting more days than necessary if we have this collection method activated.
