The Supplemental Security Income payment is monthly for people in the United States. This means that any citizen who has an accepted SSI benefit will receive it every month. However, not all Americans receive this check from Social Security on the same day.
What is true is that the Administration sends all checks on the same day. Social Security sends out the Supplemental Security Income payment on the 1st of each month, with some exceptions. So it is possible to have this payment in your pocket on the 1st of the month.
But keep in mind that the method of payment is critical to receiving the money on time. If we choose to receive this benefit through a classic deposit in a bank account, the money will take up to 3 days. On the other hand, if we choose Direct deposit, the Supplemental Security Income will arrive immediately.
For SSI checks as well as for other types of benefits, choosing Direct Deposit is always the fastest option. With this method of payment, you won’t have to wait a single day to receive your benefits.
On days when we have a regular schedule, the Supplemental Security Income payment will arrive on the 1st of the month. On months when there are irregularities, we may receive the payment even earlier.
This is because the Social Security Administration sends the Supplemental Security Income payment on the immediately preceding business day. In the case of July, for example, the SSI payment arrived to Direct Deposit recipients on June 30th.
Taking all this into account, we can say that Direct Deposit is the fastest method of payment, but the final decision is up to each citizen. It is not mandatory to activate it in order to collect benefits.
