Across the United States, each new month begins a new Social Security payment schedule. And within these benefits we find Supplemental Security Income check. This benefit is not for all beneficiaries, so we must check well if we will receive this payment or not.
The first thing to do is to look at the established requirements. After that, we must apply for the benefit. If the Supplemental Security Income check is in process we will not receive it in the next mailing. In order to receive your SSI check on August 1st, you must have it accepted in advance.
However, even Supplemental Security Income recipients who have already had their SSI checks accepted may not receive them on the 3rd day. This will depend on several factors, but basically what has the most control over this act is the collection method chosen. It is critical to choose the best possible collection method if you want to have each Social Security check immediately.
Who won’t receive their next Supplemental Security Income on time?
The SSI check will arrive in people’s pockets on August 1st. However, not all recipients will be able to enjoy this payment directly. In order to receive the money immediately, it is mandatory to have Direct Deposit activated.
This means that Americans who do not have this payment method activated will not be able to receive the payment on the 1st of the month. It is true that they will end up receiving the money, but not on the exact same day. They will have to wait a few days to receive the money.
What are the SSI requirements?
The Social Security Administration has very specific requirements for SSI payments. There are two mandatory conditions that must be met in order to receive this benefit. Americans who do not meet these conditions will not be able to get an SSI check on a monthly basis.
These are the conditions to apply for Supplemental Security Income:
- Being 65 years of age or older. Within this category also citizens with a disability can apply for the payment.
- Have a low monthly income. This also includes current assets. Citizens applying for SSI must have a low monthly income and a generally low resources.
Once we apply for this benefit we will have to wait for the Social Security Administration to accept it. Once we have Supplemental Security Income accepted, the check will arrive every month on the 1st, with some exceptions.
When the 1st of the month is a weekend or holiday, the check arrives on the immediately preceding business day. This change in payment means that in some months we receive two SSI checks and in other months we receive none.
