In the United States, the Social Security Administration has a wide range of benefits for its citizens. Among these benefits are the retirement pension and Supplemental Security Income. These two benefits are not only for retirees due to age or disability. The checks for these two payments can also reach children, although many citizens think otherwise.
However, not all children can apply for Supplemental Security Income, as it is only a part of them. But if a child has this benefit accepted, in just 48 hours he or she will be able to receive the money that belongs to him or her, regardless of the size of the check.
As with all other Supplemental Security Income recipients, children receive the payment on the 1st of each month, with some exceptions. And in the next month, we have an exception that puts the SSI checks in the beneficiaries’ pockets early.
Which children can receive the next Supplemental Security Income?
Only children who have previously been chosen by the Social Security Administration can receive the next SSI check. For children, there are additional eligibility requirements, but they may be able to get the benefit without any problems.
If they meet the requirements, they will receive this check each month up to a maximum of $914. To this we can add another type of benefit, such as the orphan’s benefit from Social Security. Regardless of whether they have another SSA check or not, on March 31st the Administration will send these payments to the selected children.
Who else can get the next Social Security SSI?
The next Social Security SSI check is not just for children. Any Supplemental Security Income recipient will receive this check on the same day. It is the second SSI payment in the month of March, so we have an extra payment that does not come every month, but on special occasions.
Therefore, retirees who have had a Social Security check and also have SSI can receive up to 3 different checks. In the month of March, retirees can collect their pension check and up to 2 Supplemental Security Income payments.
Why are there two Supplemental Security Income payments in March 2023?
The reason is a timing irregularity. Normally, the Social Security Administration sends Supplemental Security Income payments on the 1st of each month. However, this is not the case when that day is a holiday or weekend.
When the 1st of the month is not a workday, Social Security sends SSI on the immediately preceding workday. In this case, we are talking about the 31st of March. This is because April 1st is a weekend.
So whether you are a child or not, you will get your Supplemental Security Income a little early because Social Security will send this check on the last day of March.
