Several States offer public help of up to US $1,500

Several states offer additional help to the stimulus checks put in place by the federal government during the pandemic

The United States federal government has been issuing payments to some of its citizens to alleviate the devastating economic situation caused by the COVID-19 crisis. These are known as stimulus checks and they helped during the disruption caused by the pandemic and the consequences it had on the family economy.

There were three rounds of payments that had priority over other established help. In other words, the United States Government opted to ensure a benefit to those affected by this global health crisis. One of the consequences of this fact is that other types of help for families in vulnerable situations expired.

At that time, States and local communities made a major effort to send their own help to their citizens. In addition to the pandemic help funds, they used other extraordinary attorney revenues. Most of this help has been reduced now that inflation is coming down again, but there are still states that are sending help to families in financial difficulty. Do you know what they are? Here are the ones that are still in effect.

Alaska

The Permanent Fund Dividend program is still in force in Alaska. It has already been 41 years since this State continues to share with the residents of this place, the attorney income generated through oil extraction. As an example, this year the approved payment per applicant will be $3,284.

Social Security

However, it is not enough to be a resident (although it is an indispensable requirement). In addition, they cannot have been in jail within the last year. Another important factor to keep in mind is that Alaskans must apply for this payment in order to be eligible.

Maine

This State has approved a $450 help to help its citizens pay for heating expenses this winter. According to official data, approximately 880,000 residents will benefit from this help. It is true that part of these payments have already been made. In fact, it was expected that they would be finalized by the end of April.

Nevertheless, this has not been the case. For this reason, if by June 30 any beneficiaries have not received their payment, they should contact the state attorney. For its part, the latter has until September 30 to send any additional checks. It should be noted that it is not necessary to apply for this help. The state determines eligibility through the information provided on the tax return.

States that grant a tax refund without a stimulus check

Massachusetts taxpayers are eligible to receive a refund of approximately 14 percent of their state taxes. Based on this, taxpayers who file their return by September 15, 2023, will receive this refund one month after filing.

For New Jersey residents who have filed their tax return on time, the state Division of Taxation will offer property tax refunds worth $450 for people who pay rent. For its part, it will refund between $1,000 and $1,500 to homeowners.

New Mexicans have until May 31 to file their income tax returns and qualify for a rebate. In this case, it is a refund of $500 for individual taxpayers and $1,000 for joint taxpayers. The official forecast is for payments to be made in mid-June.
