Unlike retirement pension payments, SSI checks arrive on the same day to all beneficiaries in the United States. Well, it may arrive a little later for some than for others, depending on the collection method chosen.
What is certain is that the Social Security Administration sends out all SSI checks at the same time. In this sense, any beneficiary who has the Supplemental Security Income benefit can enjoy the check on the same day as everyone else.
However, there are some irregularities in the timing of the months. These irregularities cause Supplemental Security Income checks to arrive on different days. This is why you need to be familiar with the payment schedule.
If you have this benefit accepted and are waiting to get it, you should know that you may see irregularities in the coming months. However, this is not bad news, since sometimes this means getting SSI twice in the same month.
SSI PAYMENT SCHEDULE BEFORE THE END OF 2023
Among the irregularities in SSI payments we find that in October there is no payment of this benefit. The Social Security Administration does not send the payments of this check in October due to an irregularity in the calendar.
Thus, starting in October we will have the following Supplemental Security Income payments:
- October: No SSI payment due to a scheduling irregularity. The Social Security Administration sent this check on the 29th of September. This is due to the fact that October 1st is a weekend.
- November: 1st of the month. There are no irregularities with the payment of Supplemental Security Income in this month.
- December: 1st and 29th. The SSI payment on the 1st of the month belongs to December itself. However, it is not the only check for this benefit in the month. In addition to that payment there is one on the 29th. This payment actually pertains to the month of January 2024.
Therefore, as of today, there are still 3 payments to come with respect to Supplemental Security Income before the end of the year. In addition, it should also be noted that the last of these SSI payments is somewhat special.
The December 29th payment is actually the first of the 2024 payments. This means that the COLA will be added to this benefit, so the first of the payments with the COLA added will reach millions of retirees in 2023. This payment will be SSI and we will have a check for $914 at most, to which we must add the relevant COLA.
