In order to get this check early, you need to meet two requirements. The first of these requirements is a very obvious one, and that is to have your Supplemental Security Income (SSI) accepted early. If the payment is in the process of being accepted we will not be able to get it in January.
The other requirement is to have Direct Deposit activated as a payment method. This will cause us to get the January 2024 Social Security Supplemental Security Income check on December 29, 2023.
The reason for this is very simple. The 1st of January is the day assigned for the payment of this benefit. But on that day the Administration does not send checks because it is a holiday. Therefore, it will send the payment on the immediately preceding business day. And since that day is December 29th, with Direct Deposit we will get the payment immediately.
