Knowing the Social Security payment schedule is important for all United States citizens with benefits. A large part of these citizens, although it is not recommended, collect only the retirement benefit every month.
For that reason, having or not having a check on time can be crucial if we want to have a good economy at home. And there are some Americans who will get a new payment on December 1st, but in addition the Social Security Administration will send another extra payment on the same day, although not for all beneficiaries.
The requirements for cashing these two checks on the same day are easy to meet. Even so, citizens who do not have some of the requirements as of today will not be able to cash two Social Security checks on the 1st of the month. This is because these requirements are actually part of the personal information itself.
HOW TO GET TWO SOCIAL SECURITY CHECKS ON THE 1ST OF DECEMBER?
The first thing we must take into account to determine this is to know if we are part of the group of retirees who are paid on the 1st of the month of December. For this group, it is customary to be paid on the 3rd of the month, but the 3rd of December is a weekend. Therefore, the payment is moved to the immediately preceding business day, which is the 1st of the month.
And to belong to this group it is only necessary to meet one condition. That condition is to have a Social Security benefit since before 1997. All beneficiaries after that year cannot collect the first check of the month.
Also, it is necessary to meet an extra requirement, since being a retiree prior to 1997 only gives us the possibility of cashing the retirement check. The other requirement is to have Supplemental Security Income accepted. This other benefit is always sent on the 1st of each month and in December there are no exceptions.
Finally, in order to obtain these two payments on the 1st of the month, it is mandatory to have Direct Deposit activated. This method of payment allows us to have the payment instantly, so that on the 1st of December we can cash both checks without having to wait even one more day.
I RETIRED AFTER 1997, WHEN WILL I GET MY CHECK IN DECEMBER?
The December payment schedule follows the same scheme as always, but there is one small thing different. This is nothing more than that in order to get payment for post-1997 groups we will have to wait until the third week.
The days for these groups are:
- December 13th. Social Security for retirees with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of the month.
- December 20th. Benefit for beneficiaries with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of any month.
- December 27th. On this day retirees born between the 21st and 31st of the month can get their payment.
And remember that these are the days when payments are sent, but in order to cash a Social Security check on the same day it is necessary to activate Direct Deposit. Therefore, regardless of the day the money is sent, activating this collection method is very useful.
