While it is true that the Social Security Administration will be sending a new check to United States retirees, this payment is not for all citizens. Only the last group of retirees will be eligible to receive the retirement benefit that will arrive this week.
So in order to be eligible to receive this payment, two requirements must be met. If we do not meet the requirements, the check will not reach our pocket. Thus, the retirees who will not receive the new payment will be the following:
- Retirees with a benefit prior to 1997.
- Social Security beneficiaries with birthdays between the 1st and 20th of the month.
Within these groups can be any citizen who has a benefit. It does not matter the type of retirement in order to fall into one group or another group of retirees. Americans with a Social Security age and disability benefit receive their check on the same day if they meet the conditions.
So in order to receive the new Social Security benefit, two conditions must be met. The first is to have a post-1997 retirement check. The second is to have a birthday between the 21st and 31st of the month.
If we are in this group, the Administration will send us a check on the 26th of July. Since this is the last group to receive a Social Security check this month, the rest of the retirees should already have their benefits.
After this check, Social Security will arrive in August for all retirees. Likewise, the Supplemental Security Income check will arrive on the 1st of this month.
