Eligible Social Security beneficiaries in the United States can receive up to $914 more this week. This extra payment is only for this group of beneficiaries. Retirees who do not meet the requirements will not be able to get this payment this week.
Even so, it is also possible to get the extra check without having the Social Security retirement benefit. These benefits are compatible, but it is not mandatory to have one to get the other. So citizens who do not have a retirement benefit can also apply for this payment.
The benefit we are talking about is the Supplemental Security Income. This benefit is only for citizens who meet strict requirements. In total, there are two mandatory requirements, so check the list of them before applying for the benefit.
If you have the accepted benefit and the appropriate method of payment, you will receive both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income this week. This will be the case if you are in the first group of retirees who collect during the month.
Eligibility for up to $914 Social Security check
In order to apply for a Supplemental Security Income payment, you must meet two requirements. These two requirements are essential, so without them we will not get the monthly payment.
The two requirements are: to be 65 years of age or older and to have low income. Regarding the first requirement, citizens with a disability can also access this payment. The second requirement may be more difficult to justify, but all applicants should be able to do so.
When will the Supplemental Security Income check arrive?
This payment of up to $914 per month will arrive on August 1st for citizens with the benefit already accepted. Americans who are in the process of accepting the benefit will not be able to receive it yet. It is mandatory to wait until next month once the Social Security Administration accepts our benefit.
Also, the usual mailing date for these checks is the 1st, but this is not always the case. In some months, the Administration has to send the payments earlier due to irregularities in the calendar. This happens when the 1st of the month is a holiday or weekend. On those occasions, the check is sent earlier.
While it is true that the maximum payment for this Social Security check is $914, not all retirees receive the same amount. There is no minimum Supplemental Security Income payment, so each citizen will receive the check that is due to him or her. Add to that the August 3rd payment, and some retirees may have two checks this week.
