In order to get the new payment from the United States Social Security, it is compulsory to have had the benefit accepted since after May 1997. That is the first of the requirements, but not the only one. In addition, the collection method we have chosen will determine whether we receive the payment on the same day it is sent or a little later.
Without going any further, the birthday is the other mandatory requirement to determine whether the check will arrive on February 26th or not on that specific day. Remember that the Social Security payment schedule is divided into four payment days, so having access to one of these checks means being able to collect the benefit every month.
Even so, it is true that the remaining groups of retirees in the United States have already received their benefits in recent weeks. After all, the payment on February 26, 2025, is the last of the Social Security payments for this month. Therefore, this is the last of the checks for retirees in February, although it is true that on the 28th we will have an extra payment.
Who gets the new Social Security payment?
Only group 4 pensioners can get this new benefit on the 26th of February 2025. If you are not part of this group of pensioners, you should already have the payment in your current account, as the Administration sent the payments for groups 1, 2 and 3 on the 3rd, 12th and 19th of February this year.
In order to be part of the 4th group of retirees and receive this benefit, it is compulsory to:
- Have your birthday between the 21st and 31st of any month.
- Have been receiving a retirement benefit since after May 1997.
Only in this way will we be able to obtain a Social Security benefit on the 26th of February. And, in any case, you will be able to verify that the payment of this benefit will only arrive on the specific day if you have activated Direct Deposit. If we have not activated this method of collection, the check will arrive a few days later.
Extra Social Security payment in February
After the Social Security payment on February 26th, we will have another extra payment on February 28th. On this day, we may find Supplemental Security Income payments for those beneficiaries with an advance benefit approval. Therefore, we may get this check if we are eligible for this payment only, as this payment is not the same as the retirement payment.
This payment actually corresponds to March 1st, but that day is a weekend. In that case, the Administration sends the check on the immediately preceding working day, which will be February 28th of this month. Remember that the method of collection completely changes the specific day on which we get the benefit.
