The upcoming month of December will be a bit irregular for United States Social Security beneficiaries. This is because the payments for this benefit will arrive on different days for many of these groups. So pay attention to the calendar because you don’t want to get the collection day wrong.
And it’s not just that we have irregularities in the days, but some beneficiaries will be able to cash up to 3 different checks. On top of that, retirees in some groups will be paid a little later than usual, and one group in particular will get a check from Social Security earlier than the usual date.
Also, some beneficiaries may even receive two checks on the same day. Just by meeting a few requirements, they will be able to enjoy a double payment in the first week of the month.
However, no matter what we do, we will get the payment as usual. If we are eligible for Supplemental Security Income, we may get an extra payment during the month. If not, we may collect a little later or a little earlier, but we will still get it.
HOW TO CASH THREE SOCIAL SECURITY CHECKS IN DECEMBER?
There are several requirements to cash three Social Security checks in December. Likewise, the method of collection is also fundamental if we want to receive the payment as soon as possible and within the month of December.
In order to collect these three payments in the last month of the year, we must:
- Have Supplemental Security Income.
- Have a retirement check. It does not matter if it is a disability benefit or for any other reason. It does not matter the day of the payment.
- Activate Direct Deposit. If we do not activate it, we cannot cash the checks within the month of December.
If we meet these requirements, we will get a Supplemental Security Income payment on the 1st of December and another on the 29th of December. The third check will arrive on one day of the month or another depending on the group of retirees to which we belong.
In order to find out the payment days, we must check the Social Security payment schedule. Each group has its own day on which the Administration will send a check and in December there is some irregularity in this regard.
COMPLETE RETIREMENT PAYMENT SCHEDULE FOR DECEMBER 2023
The days on which the Social Security Administration will send payments to retirees will be a little different than usual in the December 2023 calendar. Still, there is nothing to worry about. Even sending the checks a little later retirees will get their benefit as they do every month.
These will be the payment days for Social Security retirement checks in December:
- December 1st. Payment for pre-1997 retirees. This payment should be on December 3, but it arrives a little earlier because the 3rd is Sunday.
- December 13th. First payment of the month for post-1997 retirees. This check arrives in the third week of the month, which is not very common. To get it, you must have a birthday between the 1st and 10th of any month.
- December 20th. Post-1997 retirees with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of the month can receive this payment.
- December 27th. Any beneficiary with a post-1997 Social Security and a birthday between the 21st and 31st can get this benefit.
Any retiree with Supplemental Security Income can cash all three checks in December. By activating Direct Deposit you will get the benefits within the month, which means that in January 2024 you will not get SSI. However, the 2024 COLA for the last payment in December will already be added, so the maximum payment will not be $914 but $943 in SSI.
