In the next few days of December, thousands of disability beneficiaries in the United States will receive a new Social Security check. This check will only be sent to a specific group of Americans, since certain requirements must be met in order to receive it. However, even if these requirements are met, there is a possibility that we will not get the check on the same day it is mailed.
In order to receive the payment on the same day it is necessary to meet an extra requirement. Leaving that aside, the first thing we need to know is what are the requirements to be part of the group that will receive the benefit on December 13th. This will be the first of the payments for the second group of disability retirees.
Thus, if we meet only two requirements we will have enough to be able to get check and enjoy a payment of up to $3,627, the maximum in this year 2023. This maximum will cease to be that figure in the coming year 2024, but there are still several payments left before the amount changes to a maximum of $3,743 per month for disability benefits.
HOW DO I GET THE DECEMBER 13TH DISABILITY PAYMENT?
First of all, it is good to keep in mind that it is not mandatory to have a disability benefit to collect this check. Any other retiree can have access to this benefit. It is enough to meet the two mandatory requirements to get the money in the near future.
And among those two requirements, having a SSDI benefit is not one of them. Therefore, age retirement benefits, as well as widow’s, widower’s, spouse’s or any other reason are also valid to get this check.
The requirements for this December 13th, 2023 benefit are as follows:
- Have a Social Security check from after 1997. On the 13th day, the first of the post-1997 group of retirees will cash their check.
- Have a birthday between the 1st and 10th of any month. You do not need to have a December birthday to get your December check.
Also, to get your payment as soon as possible, you must activate Direct Deposit. This collection method makes the Social Security payment, whether for disability or some other reason, arrive immediately without having to wait a day to have the money available.
Knowing this, we can mark on the calendar whether or not we will get the payment on the 13th of December. The rest of the post-1997 retirees will receive their checks on the 20th or 27th. The groups that get paid on those days depend on whether they have their birthday on a different day.
