With the month of December already so close, United States Social Security beneficiaries can start marking on the calendar the days of the new payments. If our Social Security SSI payment is the maximum then we will have that $914 in a few days. If it is not, there is nothing to worry about as we will still get the payment in the next few days. No matter what we do we will be able to enjoy the benefit if we have the check accepted.
WHO CAN GET THE $914 SOCIAL SECURITY PAYMENT THIS WEEK?
In order to get this payment it is mandatory to be on the list of beneficiaries. In order to be on this list, two conditions must be met. It is not possible to cash the check this week if we do not have both conditions fulfilled.
Therefore, the first of these filters to get the payment this week is to have the Supplemental Security Income benefit. Remember that Social Security’s Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is an extra check that only goes to the neediest citizens. In addition to having a low income, it is mandatory to have a disability or be over 65 years of age.
It is not mandatory to be retired to obtain this payment, although many Americans think otherwise. It is not necessary to have a Social Security check in order to get SSI every month.
The second filter to be able to collect this SSI this week is to have Direct Deposit activated. This collection method is key, as it allows us to immediately cash any Social Security check. If we meet these two requirements, we will get the payment on the 1st of December as soon as the SSA sends it.
HOW DO I GET MY DECEMBER 2023 SSI BONUS?
On December 29, 2023, the Social Security Administration will send an extra SSI check. However, this check is actually an advance of the 2024 payments and will include the 2024 COLA.
In order to get the payment at this time you will need to have Direct Deposit activated. We will not need anything else, but that is more than enough. In the case of having the payment accepted and this collection method activated on the same day of December 29th, we will enjoy this new check.
The new payment will have a maximum of 943 dollars, unlike the check on the 1st of December which will have a maximum of 914 dollars. This means that like the rest of the Social Security benefits, SSI will have a 3.2% increase thanks to the COLA.
