Although not a common occurrence, some United States Social Security beneficiaries may be able to collect two separate checks in the last week of December. Being able to receive these two payments would be a great financial boon for families who are expecting to get their retirement payments these days.
Still, it is good to keep in mind that not all Americans will get paid in this last week. Likewise, it is also good to think that we might even get only one of these two checks, since one of them is the Supplemental Security Income.
The Supplemental Security Income benefit payment is once a month, but there are times when scheduling irregularities cause the Social Security Administration to send out two checks a month. This is what will happen in December.
In case you are in the group that will get the double payment in the last week of December, you should know that activating Direct Deposit is the best option. This way we can get both payments before 2024 arrives and enjoy them at the end of the year holidays. Do you have Direct Deposit activated as a payment method?
HOW TO GET TWO SOCIAL SECURITY PAYMENTS IN THE LAST WEEK OF DECEMBER?
In order to access these two checks directly in the last week, we must belong to the last group of retirees. To do so, what we must do is to check both our year of retirement and our date of birth.
If we were born between the 21st and 31st of any month, we already meet half of the requirements. The other half of the requirements is to have had a Social Security benefit since after 1997. This causes the retirement payment to be sent on the December 27th. This will be the 4th Wednesday of the month and the last of the Administration’s payments in 2023.
On the other hand, by meeting these requirements we will get one payment, but not two. To qualify for the second payment we must meet other requirements. Those requirements are to have Supplemental Security Income accepted and, in addition, to activate Direct Deposit. Only then will we receive the payment within the month of December.
On December 29th, the Social Security Administration will send this Supplemental Security Income check to all Supplemental Security Income recipients. Whether we get the payment on the same day or not will depend on whether we have activated the fastest collection method.
If we meet all these requirements, we will be able to cash a check for up to $4,555 on December 27th and another check for up to $943 on December 29th. Undoubtedly, getting both checks would be a good way to end the year 2023 and start the year 2024.
