Each new month the Social Security Administration sends United States residents a new Supplemental Security Income check. This check is only for the neediest citizens and the eligibility requirements are strict. So when we get access to Supplemental Security Income payments it is always good news.
The SSI payment is monthly, that is, we receive it once a month. But there is a possibility that within the same month we can receive two different SSI checks. And in the month of September we will have this situation. This means that a citizen with the maximum Supplemental Security Income can receive up to $1,828 of the same benefit.
Since each citizen has a totally different Supplemental Security Income amount it is impossible to say what the payment is for each one. Even so, we must keep in mind that this extra benefit will be the same exact amount as in September. The payments will be made on two days, at the beginning and end of the month, and will go to all SSI recipients who have the appropriate payment option activated.
HOW CAN I RECEIVE TWO SUPPLEMENTAL SECURITY INCOME PAYMENTS IN SEPTEMBER?
The Social Security Administration will send two separate Supplemental Security Income checks in the month of September. The first of these payments will be on the 1st of the month. This payment will be for all Supplemental Security Income recipients. It may or may not arrive on the same day as the payment, depending on the method chosen.
On the other hand, the second payment will be on the 29th of September. This second payment of the month may arrive within the days of the month if the citizen has actually chosen the Direct Deposit collection method.
The only way to receive the two Supplemental Security Income payments within the month is to activate this collection method. This is because the money will arrive immediately and without delay. Otherwise it is impossible to know on what day we will have the money in our bank account.
Finally, it is also important to note that on the very 1st day of the month the Social Security Administration will send the pensions. However, this pension check will not be for all beneficiaries, but only for a group of them.
The group that will be able to receive both the Supplemental Security Income and the pensioner’s pension on the 1st day of the month is the group of pre-1997 retirees. In this case we have the same irregularity as in the second SSI in September.
The two irregularities in the calendar are due to the fact that the payment days are weekends. For that reason, the Administration will send the payment on the immediately preceding business day.
