Payments from the Social Security Administration follow a fixed schedule announced by the United States Government at the beginning of each year. Thanks to this schedule, all pensioners can have a better organization in their lives. Knowing the day on which we will receive each of our Social Security checks is good for our mental health.
In this sense, the payment of Supplemental Security Income is also included by the Social Security Administration in the calendar of the checks it sends throughout the year. Every 1st of the month the Administration sends out this check for recipients to receive. There are small exceptions to this, as sometimes the check does not arrive on the 1st, but a little earlier.
And we will have this small change in the calendar during the month of March. This is because April 1st is a weekend. For this reason, the Social Security Administration will send out the April Supplemental Security Income checks on the immediately preceding business day. To be exact, for the month of March, we will receive one check on the 1st and another on the 31st. The latter is the one for the month of April. But, what is the requirement to receive this extra check?
Requirement to receive Social Security’s extra check in March 2023
The Social Security Administration itself assures on its own benefit basis that no extra action is required to receive this double payment in March 2023. Therefore, we do not need to apply for any checks to receive two SSI during the days of March. We will receive a check on both the 1st and 31st.
However, there is something very important to keep in mind. While we will receive two Supplemental Security Income checks in the month of March, this means that we will not receive Supplemental Security Income in the month of April. So we need to watch out financially so that we can be well organized and not run out of money too soon.
Other SSA payments in March 2023
In addition to the two Supplemental Security Income payments, Social Security will send out retirement or disability pension checks on the following days:
- March 8th.
- March 15th.
- March 22nd.
SSA will send checks on each of these days to a different group of retirees. In order to find out on which day we cash the cheques we only need to know our birthday.
Pensioners born between March 1-10 collect on March 8th. Pensioners with birthdays between 11-20 receive checks on the 15th of March. Finally, Social Security sends checks on March 22 to beneficiaries born March 21-31.
