The Supplemental Security Income payment is one of the most useful checks within the United States Social Security system. That’s because the Supplemental Security Income benefit is only for the neediest citizens. For that reason, and many others, this payment from the Administration is a blessing to millions of Americans.
Supplemental Security Income is sent monthly. This means that the Social Security Administration sends one of these checks every month, with a maximum amount of $914 per month. The amount of this payment will depend on several factors related to the beneficiary himself. Even though it is a monthly payment, certain circumstances mean that a beneficiary may receive up to two checks in the same month.
In order to receive two Supplemental Security Income checks in the same month, two requirements must be met. The first is calendar dependent, so there is nothing the recipient can do about it. The second of these requirements does depend on the individual and is related to the method of collection chosen.
Which group of beneficiaries will receive two Supplemental Security Income payments in June?
Supplemental Security Income recipients will receive a check as usual on the 1st of June. That check will arrive in Americans’ pockets without a hitch. Since there is no irregularity in the calendar, the payment is made on the usual day.
The change in this month comes because of the following month. In the month of July we find that the 1st is a weekend. And this causes the Supplemental Security Income check to be brought forward to the previous month. But that doesn’t mean that all Supplemental Security Income recipients get their checks early.
In order to receive the SSI payment a few days in advance, it is mandatory to activate a specific payment method. This payment method is Direct Deposit. With this method of receiving benefits, both SSI and any other Social Security check will appear automatically.
So don’t forget to activate Direct Deposit if you’re looking to get your Social Security money as soon as possible. Regardless of the SSI payment, this collection method is very useful because of the speed with which we can get any of the payments from the Administration.
Who can apply for SSI?
Supplemental Security Income checks are for a large group of United States citizens. Two requirements must be met in order to obtain it:
- Being 65 years of age or older or having a disability. Either of the two categories is valid to get this check from Social Security.
- Have low monthly income and low economic resources. In order to determine if we meet this requirement we can use the Best Tool.
If we meet both requirements, we will receive a monthly Supplemental Security Income benefit. Many Americans are not aware of the possibility of applying for this check on a monthly basis, so check your eligibility and apply for it if you are able to do so.
