If you have already collected one of the 2024 retirement payments you will have seen that Social Security has increased the checks. All beneficiaries in the United States with one of these benefits has gotten the COLA increase so they can enjoy some extra money.
And in the case of April we will find that the COLA will kick in adding money over the same April 2023 Social Security payment. So if regardless of what your check was a year ago you will get the extra 3.2% in this monthly check.
Mind you, not all Americans can enjoy this new retirement payment. Social Security will send a new check only to group 1 retirees. This group will have same-day payment available if they have the faster collection method turned on. If not, they will have to wait a little while to get a check.
In any case, the important thing is to comply with the established requirements. This is the only way to get the Social Security Administration to pay us the April 3rd benefit so that we can enjoy the check in the best possible way and as soon as possible.
April 3rd Social Security Eligibility Requirements
Only a specific group of Americans can collect the new April 3rd Social Security payment. This group is none other than Group 1 retirees. And to be part of this group there is one requirement to be met. There is no other requirement than that for the Administration to send us a check.
The payment of this benefit is for retirees prior to May 1997. So if your check is prior to that year, the payment will be available in just a few days. However, it is mandatory to have Direct Deposit activated so that the payment on April 3rd arrives immediately to your checking account.
Those Americans who retired after May 1997 can get their retirement check on the second, third or fourth Wednesday of April. The exact day depends on each retiree’s birthday.
Thus, April 10th is for retirees born between the 1st and 10th of the month. Those with Social Security and birthdays between the 11th and 20th get their payment on the 17th of the month. Finally, on April 24th, retirees with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of the month will receive their check collection.
