The new Social Security checks will be arriving very soon to eligible households in the United States. Getting one of these payments is only possible if certain requirements are met. In January 2025, as in all other months of the year, we will have a minimum of 4 different payments.
Each of these payments will be for a different group of retirees and we must know the requirements well in order to be able to mark on the calendar when we will be able to have the money. Each payment day has its own requirements, which is why it is so important to know the calendar well.
The important thing in these cases is to have the Social Security payment accepted. If we have it, the payment will arrive regardless of the requirements we meet, since the Administration sends a new payment to retirees every month. Therefore, we will have the money available to us, but the exact day will depend on the group to which we belong.
When do 65-year-old retirees get Social Security?
Regardless of whether we have been retired since age 65 or if we are currently 65 and have been collecting Social Security for several years, the payment will still arrive in full in 2025. Also, the amount we get does not have to be $2,100, as this amount is a guideline. Each beneficiary gets a different check depending on his or her work history.
Thus, Social Security payments will arrive in January 2025 on the following days depending on the requirements we meet:
- January 3rd. Payments for pre-May 1997 retirees.
- January 8th. Payments for retirees after May 1997. Birthdays between the 1st and 10th of any month are also required.
- January 15th. Payments for retirees after May 1997. Also required between the 11th and 20th of any month.
- January 22nd. Payments for retirees after May 1997. It is also necessary to have a birthday between the 21st and 31st of any month.
Similarly, we should keep in mind that if we have started collecting the SSI check it is also possible to get it in January, but the payment is sent earlier on the 31st of December. This extra Social Security payment will arrive in the first days of January for those who do not have Direct Deposit, but having this collection method activated will mean getting the payment immediately.
