About 4% of eligible Illinois residents have not yet received their income and property tax refunds. The state has already sent checks totaling $1.042 billion to more than 5.1 million residents. A total of $1.2 billion will be sent to 6 million residents.

The refunds will be paid the same way you received your 2021 Illinois income tax refund. There was one application for income refunds, which closed 17 October.

How much you can get

Single taxpayers who earned less than $200,000 in the last year will receive a $50 income tax refund.

Couples filing jointly and earning less than $400,000 are expected to receive $100. Eligible taxpayers also receive $100 each per dependent, with a limit of three.

Property tax refunds were limited to $300 for homeowners.
