Everyone in the United States should be aware of the Social Security payment schedule. Retirement can arrive on up to 4 different days and it all depends on several elements related to personal information. The first of these payments always arrives on the 3rd day of the month, although sometimes it is earlier on the 2nd day of the same month.
However, the Social Security Administration sends the rest of the payments on the second, third and fourth Wednesday of the month. And this is what causes the first of the payments for post-1997 retirees to receive the money later than usual. If we look at the calendar for the month of June 2023 we can see that the 1st is Thursday. This makes the configuration of the month different from the rest of the months.
And because of this calendar we find that the second Wednesday of the month is in the third week of June. Therefore, the Social Security Administration will start sending out these checks later than it commonly does. Even so, the Administration will still send the payment, but we will receive it later.
When will I receive my Social Security payment?
In order to determine on what day we will receive our Social Security payment, we need to take a good look at the calendar. In addition to that, we should also activate Direct Deposit, as this will help us to collect the payment as soon as possible. With this method of payment the money will appear immediately without having to wait at any time.
The payment days for the month of June for beneficiaries after 1997 are:
- June 14th. Payment for retirees born between the 1st and 10th of the month.
- June 21st. Retirees with birthdays between the 11th and 20th are paid on this day.
- June 28th. Last day of June for retirement checks. This day is only for Social Security beneficiaries born between the 21st and 31st of the month.
As for the month of birth, it should be noted that this is not important. The day of payment is determined by the day of birth regardless of the year or month. So if you retire after 1997, you will receive your check on one of the days mentioned above.
And although it is true that the check will arrive later than usual, because you have to wait at least until the third week, it will arrive anyway. The Social Security Administration will send the payments on the usual day.
