Any American who has a Social Security benefit should know on what day of the month they receive their check from the United States Administration. Knowing the exact day helps greatly in the overall organization of the household finances. For that reason, knowing this day is essential. Especially in the case of receiving only this Social Security benefit as a source of income.
Even so, there are times when we may receive more than one Social Security check in just a few days. And this is due to various scheduling reasons. In addition to that, some basic requirements need to be met, as the two checks in question are not for all Americans. Receiving these two checks means having two benefits accepted at the same time.
Therefore, if we have two accepted checks from the Social Security Administration we will only need to activate the appropriate collection method in order to receive the payments as soon as possible. If we do not activate the faster collection method, we will not be able to collect both payments this week. But we will receive the payments in the future.
When will I receive my two Social Security checks?
The days on which the Social Security Administration will send the two checks to retirees age 65 will be on the following days:
- June 1st.
- June 2nd.
The first of these checks is the Supplemental Security Income check. This benefit is only for beneficiaries who have a previously accepted check. To be eligible for this type of Social Security payment, it is mandatory to be at least 65 years old or have a disability. In addition, the citizen must have a low monthly income and low economic resources.
On the other hand, the 2nd of June payment belongs to retirees with benefits prior to 1997. If your retirement is prior to that year you will always receive the payment on the 3rd day of the month, although there are exceptions. In this month of June we have that exception. This is because the 3rd day of the month is a weekend. In such cases, the Administration advances the payment to the immediately preceding business day. In this case it is the 2nd day.
Receive the checks immediately
In order to receive payments immediately and without delay, it is necessary to activate Direct Deposit. Retirees who do not have this payment method activated will have to wait until the next few days to receive them. Retirees without this collection method will usually receive their Social Security payments 2 to 3 days after they are sent.
In many cases, activating Direct Deposit becomes not only an advantage but a necessity. In the event that the payment day is Friday, not activating Direct Deposit can result in a long delay in receiving the check. Because of this, retirees who receive their benefits by bank transfer will have to wait until the 5th or 6th of June in some cases.
If our idea is to be able to use the money on the 1st and 2nd of the month, if we are among the groups of retirees who receive these checks, we should activate Direct Deposit. This is the fastest and most efficient way to cash any of the checks from the Social Security Administration.
