The new Social Security payments will not arrive in the second week of September for retirees in the United States. While it is true that it is customary in these cases for retirees to receive their check in the second week of the month, in September we are encountering a slight irregularity. Due to this irregularity, the check will arrive a little later than usual.
Even so, not all beneficiaries will have this benefit later. There is a group that has even received the check earlier than usual. It is best to know as much as possible about the Social Security payment schedule in order to have the best possible organization. With good financial organization, it is easier to know when you will receive the money and how much you have available for expenses.
As far as payment days are concerned, in September there are 4 for pensions and 2 for Supplemental Security Income. The Social Security Administration also points out an irregularity regarding the SSI check, as it can arrive up to twice for SSI recipients. The only thing we need to monitor is the method of collection.

FULL SEPTEMBER SOCIAL SECURITY PAYMENT SCHEDULE
To understand why some beneficiaries will not be able to receive the benefit in the second week of September, we must check the complete calendar. These are the payment days for the month of September:
- September 1st.
- September 13th.
- September 20th.
- September 27th.
As for Supplemental Security Income payments, the checks arrive on the following days of the month:
- September 1st.
- September 29th.
On each of these days, different groups of retirees will receive checks. Certain requirements must be met in order to receive the money on one of these calendar days.
Payment for pre-1997 retirees
The payment for pre-1997 retirees arrives on the 1st of September. This payment is imminent and is only for the beneficiaries of this group. On the other hand, the next payments will arrive for post-1997 retirees.
September 13th is for beneficiaries with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of the month. The 20th for retirees born between the 11th and 20th. Finally, the 27th day of September is for retirees with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of the month.
The reason the payment does not arrive in the second week is because September starts on a Friday. When this happens, the first of the payments for post-1997 retirees always arrives a little later. To be exact, the payment arrives in the third week of the month.
Regardless of which day the payment is due, it is a good idea to have Direct Deposit activated so that you can cash the check instantly. This will ensure that there is no delay in Social Security benefits.
