The schedule of May Social Security payments is now available for all United States retirement beneficiaries. So you can already know on which day of next month you will have access to the new retirement benefit. Make a note of both the collection date and the requirements so that you can organize everything related to your household finances in the best possible way.
And remember that each of these payments is for a different group of retirees. Getting each check means meeting the requirements for that particular day. In total, there will be four payment days for retirement beneficiaries and another two days for Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries. So, the May Social Security payment schedule has a bit of a blip in it.
Be that as it may, the important thing is to know up front what day we will get the money. Also, if we have accepted Supplemental Security Income, we will be able to know exactly when our payment will arrive sooner or later. It is also important to keep in mind that the day of collection will depend on the collection method you have chosen.
Social Security Payment Schedule for May 2024
In total, there will be 6 days on which the Social Security Administration will send out payments for retirement and other various benefits. So take note to find out if you will actually collect your monthly check sooner or later.
The Social Security payment days in May 2024 will be:
- May 1st. Supplemental Security Income recipients get payment on this day of the month. This payment is May SSI.
- May 3rd. Retirees with a pre-May 1997 check can get payment on this day.
- May 8th. Any beneficiary with a post-May 1997 benefit and a birthday between the 1st and 10th of the month gets their payment on this day.
- May 15th. If your birthday is between the 11th and 20th of the month and you get your benefit from after May 1997 this will be your Social Security day.
- May 22nd. Last calendar payment for May 2024. Payment will only be for post-1997 retirees with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of any month.
- May 31st. This day’s payment actually belongs to the June 2024 payment schedule. This payment is next month’s Supplemental Security Income.
As for the amount, what is certain is that the May 2024 payment will be larger than the Social Security check in previous years thanks to the COLA. The payment is up 3.2% over last year, so we will get a check for up to $4,873 this month.
