Each new month that begins the United States Social Security Administration sets up the new schedule for payments. This allows us to know well in advance when we will be able to cash our monthly retirement check.
However, we sometimes find that the payments arrive a few days later than usual. And this can be due to several reasons, but the main reason is the day the month starts. Because of these small irregularities the wait for the money can be a little longer.
What we do have to keep in mind all the time is that the check will reach our pocket no matter what day of the month we get it. By having an accepted benefit, the Social Security Administration will send us the monthly payment without any problems.
Therefore, we can be assured that Social Security payments arrive every month and the only thing that changes is the day we get the payment. Even so, the schedule of benefits is usually very regular so that only in some months we will encounter irregularities.
This makes it much easier to organize household finances in the United States, so that pensioners can know well in advance when they will receive their monthly pension money.
WHEN DOES THE LONG-AWAITED NEW SOCIAL SECURITY PAYMENT ARRIVE?
This new Social Security payment arrives later this week to eligible retirees. The eligibility criteria for this new check has three different filters.
The first of these filters is related to having or not having retirement. That is to say, in order to be eligible to have this check we must have the retirement previously accepted, since if it is in process we will not be able to collect the money.
The second filter is to have Social Security after 1997. Any retiree prior to that year collects his or her benefit on the first payday of the month. In this case we are not talking about the first of the September payments, but the third.
The third and last filter is to have birthdays between the 11th and 20th of the month. This causes the payment to reach the pocket on the next payday, i.e. September 20th.
Therefore, in order to collect September 20th Social Security, it is necessary to have a birthday between the 11th and 20th of the month and to have a fully accepted benefit since after 1997. There is no other requirement for the Administration to send us a check on this day.
What is true is that in order to cash the check on the same day that the Administration sends it, it is mandatory to activate Direct Deposit. This method of collection makes the Social Security checks appear immediately in our pocket without having to wait even one day.
