This week is the last few days before the first of the Social Security pension checks for United States retirees arrive. The collection day for this retirement benefit will be in just a few days. Therefore, retirees who meet just one condition will be able to enjoy one of the checks of up to $4,558, which is the maximum in 2023.
In order to be eligible to receive one of these cheques it is only necessary to have a birthday within a certain date. Therefore, retirees with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of the month will collect this check from Social Security this week. The collection day was announced at the beginning of the year, as the Social Security calendar has been available to all retirees since the end of the previous year.
If not born between the 1st and 10th of the month, retirees will receive their Social Security check in the following weeks, so there is nothing to worry about. The only thing it ultimately affects is the monthly organization. But what is certain is that the Administration will send the check to all beneficiaries who have this type of benefit accepted.
What day is the next Social Security check?
As we have already mentioned, retirees born between the 1st and 10th of the month will receive their Social Security benefit in the next few days. To be exact, the Administration will send the checks to this group of retirees on March 8th. This is only the first of the checks the Administration is sending to United States retirees.
Following this check are two more checks. However, as with the March 8th money, the rest of the checks are not for all retirees, but for two well-defined groups. Thus, retirees born between the 11th and 20th of the month receive cheques on the 15th of March. Likewise, retirees born between the 21st and 31st will receive the last cheque of the month, which will be on the 22nd.
It is not necessary to be born in March to collect the March check, although some retirees think so. The Social Security Administration only takes into account the day of the month in order to organize the payment groups.
Maximizing your retirement check
Once we have applied for a Social Security check, it is very difficult to maximize it. However, if we have not yet applied for retirement, there is still time to increase the amount we will receive each month.
To do this, we need to delay our retirement age as much as possible. In addition, we must also have a good salary while we are working. And with respect to work, the third fundamental element is to work for at least 35 years. By maximizing these three elements we will get the best possible check from the Social Security Administration, although it is true that reaching the 4,558 maximum check is very difficult.
