To get Social Security Disability payments under the 2025 Cost of Living Adjustment in the United States we only need to have a Social Security payment accepted. It does not matter if the payment is SSDI or any other type of benefit. The important thing in these cases is to have the payment accepted in advance.
However, it is also true that even if we have not yet started collecting the Disability payment, we will get a 2025 Cost of Living check in the next year. Any and all payments received in 2025 will receive that year’s COLA, even if the American starts getting the benefit in the next year.
Increased Cost of Living in Disability by 2025
All Americans with a Disability benefit will get their annual increase in 2025, but the dollar amount received will be higher or lower depending on the dollars received now. The larger the check, the larger the COLA increase we will get in the coming months.
Thus, the maximum Disability payment in 2025 will be $4,018. This means that a citizen with a maximum SSDI benefit is eligible to get more than $4,000 each month, which is a great financial relief, since it is a large amount of dollars.
In the case of not having a maximum Social Security Disability benefit, the check will also have an increase, but it will be smaller. The increase will be 2.5%, but until we get the first of the January payments we can’t know 100% what our retirement payout will be.
Other Cost of Living 2025 Increases
In addition to disability checks, the Social Security Administration will increase the checks for all other benefits through Cost of Living 2025. Thus, payments for all other benefits will also have a new maximum check.
With this in mind, we should know that:
- Social Security’s maximum checks for Full Retirement Age, like Disability payments, will be $4,018 in 2025.
- The checks for retirement at age 70 in 2025 will be $5,180.
- The maximum Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment will be $967 in 2025.
Either way, the increase will be in our benefit, so we don’t have to worry about anything. And best of all, we don’t have to do anything to get the increase, since the increase is automatic and we will see it reflected without having to apply for it and whatever our benefit is.
