Pensioners of all ages will be in luck next week. The Social Security Administration will be sending United States retirees a new check for up to $4,558 in just three days. This check is not for all American retirees, as a requirement must be met in order to receive this next Social Security check.
Within the Social Security Administration’s payment schedule, each month we can find ourselves with a minimum of three different check days. These days are always the second, third and fourth Wednesday of each month. The checks are sent out on a staggered basis and on each of these days different groups of retirees receive their checks.
To determine whether a retiree is in one group or another, we only need to know his or her birthday. With this information we can then determine the day on which they will receive their Social Security benefit. This type of calendar makes it much easier to organize the finances of American households that have only a government check as their sole source of income.
Who cashes the next Social Security check?
Only a senior who is in the first group of retirees can cash the next Social Security check. To be in this group a retiree must only meet the requirement of having his or her birthday between the 1st and 10th of the month. If you have your birthday between these two days, you can automatically receive this new retirement check.
Otherwise, there is nothing to worry about. Retirees who do not have their birthday between the 1st and 10th of the month will receive their check in the next few Wednesdays. For these groups the collection day could be Wednesday, the 15th of March or Wednesday, the 22nd of March. Depending also on the date of the birthday, we will receive the benefit on one day or the other.
When will the retirement money reach my pocket?
As a general rule, it can take up to 3 days from the time the Social Security Administration sends the money. This is for retirees who have bank deposit activated as a payment method. There is a faster alternative that makes having the retirement check in your pocket automatic.
In order to receive a check at the exact time Social Security sends it, all we have to do is activate Direct Deposit. With Direct Deposit, any retiree can access their benefit money on the day they receive it. This does not mean that we will receive it earlier, as the payment must be accepted by the Administration beforehand.
