When it comes to receiving a Supplemental Security Income benefit or any other type of United States Social Security check, the method of payment is very important. Although it seems like it is not really something to take into account, it is. Depending on the collection method we choose, the check may arrive as soon as 5 or 6 days after mailing.
Because of this, the Supplemental Security Income payment could arrive much later than usual. And this is bad news for any of the recipients of this benefit. Undoubtedly, this check is created so that United States citizens can live more comfortably. For that reason, not receiving this check on time can be a big problem for many citizens.
Although it is not a good idea to rely on this type of benefit, the truth is that many Americans do. The financial obligations of some citizens and their low incomes mean that they have to apply for Supplemental Security Income in order to receive it every month. The Social Security Administration always sends this check on time, but whether or not it is received directly is up to the individual.
Also, any payments from the Social Security Administration will arrive much sooner if you choose the right collection method. Otherwise, we could have money problems in the future, so it is better to make sure that we will receive the payment on time every month.
How do I get Supplemental Security Income on time?
In order to receive any of your Social Security checks on time, including Supplemental Security Income, you must have Direct Deposit activated. This is the fastest way to receive your checks, and the checks arrive instantly. If you do not have Direct Deposit activated, you will not be able to receive an extra check during the days of June.
This extra check does not mean that we have more money in the total checks for the year. The only thing it does is to advance the payment for the month of July. Even so, if we do not activate Direct Deposit it will be impossible to have this money in June itself. If we do not activate it, we will receive the check in July. This is because the Social Security Administration will send it on June 30th and it will take 2 or 3 days to reach the beneficiaries.
When do Social Security payments arrive in June?
During the month of June the Social Security Administration sends out 6 different checks. Of these checks a retiree can get 3 of them. This means that a citizen collecting Supplemental Security Income can get two checks during June. But it is essential to activate the appropriate collection method, as we have already mentioned.
These are the days on which the Administration sends checks to retirees in June:
- June 1st. Payment of Supplemental Security Income for the month of June.
- June 2nd. Pre-1997 retirees receive their payments on this day.
- June 14th. Post-1997 retirees with birthdays between the 1st and 10th are paid on this day.
- June 21st. Payment of any beneficiary with a pre-1997 benefit and a birthday between the 11th and 20th.
- June 28th. Last payment for the month of June. This check is for pre-1997 retirees with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of the month.
- June 30th. Extra Supplemental Security Income check for the month of July.
In addition to activating Direct Deposit, we must always keep our personal information in My Account up to date. This will make the Supplemental Security Income checks and other benefits arrive much faster and without delays.
