In just a few days the Social Security Administration will send a new check to eligible United States citizens. This new check will have a maximum limit of $4,873 and in order to apply for it, several requirements must be met.
To be exact, there are two requirements that are indispensable. There is an extra requirement to be able to collect the Social Security payment on March 13th itself. If this extra requirement is not met, there is nothing to worry about, as we will still get the payment in the days following the day it is sent.
The requirements we need to meet in order to get this payment are related to the year of retirement and the day of the birthday. Therefore, those Americans who have not yet gotten the retirement will not be able to have this payment.
So we could say that the first of the requirements we need to fulfill is to have the retirement accepted. Once we have this, we will get the payment every month. The Social Security Administration will send it to us on one day or another depending on the group we belong to.
How do I qualify for Social Security on March 13th?
The Social Security Administration divides benefit recipients into four different groups. In order to get the March 13th payment we need to be part of retiree group 2.
To be part of this group, two requirements must be met. These are the requirements to get the March 13th benefit:
- Having the benefit since after 1997. If we get the check from May 1997 onwards, we meet the first of the two requirements.
- Have a birthday between the 1st and 10th of any month. Neither the year of birth nor the month matters. Only the exact day of the month matters.
Only then can we get the March 13th payment. However, in order for the Social Security check to arrive on the same day it is mandatory to activate Direct Deposit. This collection method is instantaneous, which makes the payments for these benefits appear without having to wait a single day.
Americans who do not meet these requirements will have to wait a little while to get this check. On the one hand, without Direct Deposit, the Social Security payment will arrive two to three days later. On the other hand, Americans in groups 3 and 4 will get their benefit on the 20th and 27th of March, respectively.
