Goodbye to payments for the 2nd group of retirees: Social Security will send out different checks

The Social Security Administration will not send new checks to beneficiaries in the second group but will pay other checks to Americans

Social Security will send more checks but only to some citizens

United States Social Security beneficiaries in the second group of retirees will not collect a new check until next month. The Social Security payment schedule is marked several days out and payments for this group have already ended.

While that might seem like very bad news, there is actually nothing negative about it. Social Security payments have their day marked on the calendar, so if we don’t get a check on one day we will always get it on another. The important thing is to know which group of retirees we belong to and what is the day on which the Administration sends the payment to that group of retirees.

In this regard, the second group of retirees should already have January’s check, which makes them have to wait until February to get payment. So they don’t actually see a new payment for some time but they do have January’s Social Security payment already available and therefore have this month’s financial solvency results, at least in part.

Which checks will Social Security send before the end of January?

Depending on the group of retirees to which we belong, we will have the money available on one date or another. Social Security group 2 got the money on January 10th. On this day, the retirement payments were sent to these beneficiaries. To be clear, we should keep in mind that this group is composed of post-1997 retirees with a birthday between the 1st and 10th of the month.

But that is not the last payment of the month, we will see two more in January. These two payments will be on the 17th and 24th of the same month. In order to get the payment on January 17th we must meet two mandatory requirements. On the one hand, it is mandatory to have a birthday between the 11th and 20th of any month. It is not necessary to have a birthday in the month of the payment; any month or year is fine. On the other hand, it is also necessary to have the benefit after 1997.

The last payment for the month of January is also required to have a Social Security benefit after 1997. Besides that, if we want to get the check on the 24th of this same month, it will be mandatory to have a birthday between the 21st and 31st of the month. After that payment, we will have to wait until February for a new benefit.

Why is there no Supplemental Security Income in January 2024?

There is indeed a Supplemental Security Income payment in January 2024. But the truth is that this check for United States citizens is always sent on the 1st of the month except when it is a holiday or weekend.

And that is exactly what happens in the month of January, since the 1st of this month is usually a holiday. For this reason, the Administration sent this payment earlier, on December 29th of the previous year. So we cannot say that Social Security does not send such a check, but it did send it earlier.

Each month a retiree can get two different checks if he or she has Social Security and Supplemental Security Income. Although it is true that sometimes there are irregularities, the usual practice is to have these two checks directly.
