The monthly Social Security payment schedule in the United States is divided into several days. This means that not all retirees may receive the same check on the same day. Each group of retirees receives their benefit on a different day. The Social Security Administration divides retirees into two major groups to avoid crowding and delays in payments.
In addition to that, there is another division in turn. In total, there are four days of benefit payments, but one of those days is for a full group and the other three are for divisions of the second group. At first glance it looks like a complicated system, but it is quite easy to understand once you see the requirements. In order to be paid on the first day of the month, only one condition must be fulfilled.
However, in order to receive the second, third or fourth payment it is mandatory to fulfill two requirements in total. Even so, if we fulfill the requirement for the first of the payments it is impossible to get one of the others. Therefore, let’s see what the schedule is for this week and the rest of the payments for the month of August to eliminate mistakes. Will you collect your Social Security payment this week?
WHO COLLECTS THE SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFIT THIS WEEK?
Retirees who meet two requirements will be able to receive their payments this week. What is certain, however, is that the Social Security Administration will send out a check this week. Whether or not you receive it during these days will depend on the method of payment. With the slowest collection method, it can take up to 3 days for the money to arrive.
Regardless of the collection method we use, the Social Security Administration will send the payments if we meet two conditions. The first condition is to have the benefit since after 1997. The other condition is to have the birthday between the first tenth day of the month, i.e. between the 1st and the 10th.
To this we must add that if we activate Direct Deposit the payment will arrive immediately. So this is the way to get the money without having to wait a single day. Otherwise, the money could take up to three days to arrive.
The rest of the Social Security payments in August will be in the following weeks. These are the other payment days:
- August 16th. Payment for retirees with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of the month.
- August 23rd. Retirees with birthdays between the 21st and 31st collect their check on this day.
In addition to this requirement, it is also necessary to have retired after 1997. If we meet the requirements, we already know on which day we will receive the Social Security benefit during the days of August.
