In the United States Social Security payments schedule we can find that we will soon get new retirement payments. This new calendar corresponds to January 2025 and thanks to the COLA the checks sent by the Administration will have an increase for all Americans.
So, in case you are expecting one of these new checks you should know that your benefit will be higher than in 2024. Therefore, the Social Security check in 2025 will correspond to a benefit that in the case of being the maximum check will exceed the $4,873 that, until now, was the maximum payment.
When does the January 2025 Social Security check arrive?
In the month of January 2025 we will have a total of 4 different payments for retirees. Each of these payments belongs to a different group, so we must know which group we belong to in order to mark the corresponding date on the calendar.
The January 2025 SSI payments will be sent on the 31st of December, so they will arrive early. But the rest of the month’s Social Security payments will be on the following days:
- January 3rd. Payments for pre-May 1997 retirees.
- January 8th. Payments for retirees after May 1997. Birthdays between the 1st and 10th of any month are also required.
- January 15th. Payments for retirees after May 1997. Also required between the 11th and 20th of any month.
- January 22nd. Payments for retirees after May 1997. It is also necessary to have a birthday between the 21st and 31st of any month.
On top of all this, there is an extra SSI payment in January 2025. This extra payment of the additional Social Security check actually corresponds to the February SSI payment. Since February 1st is not a business day, the Administration will send it on the 31st of January, which is the immediately preceding business day.
Maximum Social Security payments in 2025 will reach $5,180 per month, but that will be only in the case of having the maximum benefit. As far as SSI is concerned, the maximum check will be $967 per month. Each citizen has a different benefit and the amount they get in January will be the same amount they get for the rest of 2025.
