In the United States, payments from the Social Security Administration follow a fixed schedule that repeats every month. This is the norm, although there are occasions when we encounter the occasional exception. These exceptions occur because of irregularities in the calendar and only then does the day the Social Security checks are cashed change.
Even so, the change is not usually very big, but it can cause us to receive three checks in the same month. However, it is good to remember that this does not mean we will get extra money from Social Security. Receiving three different checks in a month means we will get one less check next month.
However, the great advantage of having this check in advance is that we will be able to organize our finances more effectively. Having the money in advance will make it easier in that month to pay many bills, but we must organize our money well. By receiving it earlier, we might not have enough money for the rest of the month.
In short, in case you receive one of the checks in advance, you should watch out, since you could spend it before it is due. The ideal in these cases is to make a budget and stay within it. This is the best way to avoid unpleasantness when it comes to Social Security checks.
Who gets the first Social Security check in June?
The first of the checks that the Social Security Administration will send out in the month of June will be the 1st of the month. This check is for Supplemental Security Income recipients. This benefit is not for all beneficiaries, as only a group of Americans receive this monthly money.
The maximum amount of money we can receive through Supplemental Security Income is $914. While it is true that this money arrives on the 1st of each month, there are sometimes exceptions. When the 1st is a holiday or a weekend, we find that the Administration sends the check on the immediately preceding business day.
This happens in the month of July. For that reason, Social Security retirees will receive three different checks if they have Supplemental Security Income this June. This will mean that they will not have Supplemental Security Income income in July.
Full payment schedule for the month of June
In total, the month of June will have six different payments spread out over each week. Each of these checks will be for a specific group of citizens. The first of the payments will be on the 1st of the month. This check is the June Supplemental Security Income. On the other hand we will have the second payment on the 2nd of June. This check is an advance of the June 3rd payment, which is only for pre-1997 retirees.
After these two payments the Social Security Administration will pay benefits to post-1997 retirees. This other group may receive a check on one of the following days:
- June 14th. Retirees with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of the month.
- June 21st. Pensioners born between the 11th and 20th of the month.
- June 28th. Beneficiaries with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of the month.
And it does not matter the month of birth to determine these payments, since we only have to take into account the day. In addition to these checks, the Social Security Administration will send another extra payment on June 30th. This payment pertains to July’s Supplemental Security Income and is advanced due to a calendar irregularity.
For this reason, a retiree could have three separate checks in June: two Supplemental Security Income checks and one regular retirement check. However, we must remember that if we receive the money early we should spend it cautiously, since we will not have another extra check in July.
