The 16th of April 2025 will be a day much celebrated by a group of citizens of the United States. After all, on this day these retirees will be able to enjoy the new Social Security retirement benefit that will reach group 3 of beneficiaries.
Each retiree is within a specific group of beneficiaries. And this is decided at the moment in which the Administration grants the beneficiary the benefit, since the retirement check is sent on four different days depending on the year of retirement and the birthday.
The moment a citizen begins the collection of the Social Security payment, the day of payment cannot be changed. Ultimately, the information that determines whether we receive the payment earlier or later cannot be changed, so whether we receive the check on the next April 16th will depend on whether or not we meet the requirements.
Who is eligible for the April 16th payment?
Social Security benefits on April 16, 2025 go to group 3 beneficiaries. Therefore, we have to know if we are part of this group 3 of retirees or not. So just by checking a couple of requirements we can have all the information we need to determine this. In any case, we don’t have to worry about whether or not we will receive the payment on this day, since we could get the check on another day of the month.
But if we want to be sure that we will receive this new payment, we have to check the following:
- Retirement year. We must have had our retirement accepted since after May 1997.
- Birthday. The day must be between the 11th and the 20th of any month, both days included.
There are no further requirements to be part of group 3 of pensioners and, therefore, to be among the beneficiaries who get this payment on this day, April 16, 2025. If we are not part of this group, we will have to check the remaining payment day of the month, which will be next April 23, although only group 4 pensioners can get this monthly payment.
In terms of the amount, it is true that some Americans could receive a check for up to $3,500, but many others may receive a much smaller payment. It will all depend on their work history, since Social Security payments depend on these characteristics. The maximum payment in 2025 is $5,108 per month, but not everyone will be able to reach that figure.
