In the Social Security payment calendar we often find established payments that make life much easier for beneficiaries with a disability in the United States. Knowing in advance when in the month we will be able to get this new payment is key for retirees to be able to plan their household budget effectively.
In this sense, on February 26, 2025, we will receive the last of the payments corresponding to the monthly calendar for disability retirees. For that reason, knowing if we are eligible to receive this new payment is really important. If we are not eligible for this payment, we may have to file a claim with Social Security, since the rest of the groups have already gotten their monthly payment.
Disability retirees eligible for February 26th
The 26th of February 2025 will be the last day of Social Security payments, whether for disability or for other reasons. The type of retirement does not influence the day on which we receive the payments, so we should have no problem getting the payment on February 26th if our benefit is for retirement due to age.
There are two main requirements for getting this payment:
- Your birthday must fall between the 21st and 31st of any given month.
- You must have been receiving a retirement pension since after May 1997.
Only in this case will we be able to receive the payment on the 26th of February, so whether it is for Disability or for other reasons, we will still receive our retirement payment on that day. Of course, the check will arrive on that specific day only if Direct Deposit is activated. If we do not have this collection method activated, the payment will arrive a few days later.
More Social Security payments in February
Although it is true that the payment on February 26th is the last of the payments for the month of February corresponding to this month’s calendar, it is also true that we may receive an extra payment on the 28th of the month. However, this payment is not for disability or anything like that, but rather it is the Supplemental Security Income payment.
The extra SSI check will arrive on February 28th because March 1st is a weekend. When this happens, the SSI benefit payment is sent on the immediately preceding business day. This means February 28th, which will be Friday of next week. If you have Direct Deposit and this benefit is accepted, you will be able to enjoy this March payment before the month begins.
