A new check for up to $914 from Social Security in the United States could reach millions of American households. To receive it, there are only a couple of requirements. Even citizens who think they cannot receive it will be able to apply for this benefit.
Despite being one of the most useful Social Security benefits, many Americans are unaware that they can get this monthly check. And, truth be told, $914 per month is very helpful to households. While it is true that the check is not $914 for all applicants, any figure is good to receive.
This way, if we take into account that the check arrives every month, we can even combine it with the Social Security pensioner’s check. This would result in many Americans getting up to 2 different checks a month. Undoubtedly, this is a huge help for the most needy citizens.
However, not all citizens can receive the next of the extra Social Security checks. Likewise, some of the citizens who were receiving this benefit before may no longer have it for various reasons.
ELIGIBILITY FOR THE EXTRA $914 SOCIAL SECURITY CHECK
In order to have the extra $914 in our pockets every month, we will have to meet certain requirements. The Social Security Administration sends these checks only to a small group of Americans who meet the eligibility criteria. If you don’t meet the eligibility criteria, you won’t be able to receive the payment. Likewise, if you were eligible before and no longer are, you will not receive the money either.
So we must meet these two requirements if we want to get the extra payment of up to $914 from Social Security:
- Have low monthly income, as well as low resources in general.
- Be 65 years of age or older or have a recognized and demonstrable disability.
In the case of applying for this payment, which is called Supplemental Security Income, we must justify these two eligibility requirements with official documentation. We cannot apply for the payment without 100% justification of our condition.
As for the amount, the maximum payment is $914, but not for all Americans is the same amount of money. Each check is totally individual and unique, so you may receive less money. What’s more, it is usual for the check to fall short of the $914 figure, as that is the most extreme case.
The next of these Social Security payments will be on September 1st. In addition, during this month the Administration will send out two checks for this same payment. This is because October 1st is a weekend and when this happens the check arrives on the immediately preceding business day. This situation means that in some months we may have two different SSI checks.
