The schedule for disability benefit payments is slightly different each month, although the United States Social Security Administration always follows the same schedule. In order to avoid problems in the household financial plan, we must be aware that these changes are possible. That is why looking at the calendar can help us avoid these problems.
In the coming month of December, disability beneficiaries will see different changes in the payment schedule. To be exact, most payments will follow the rule, but in a slightly different way. While it is true that all checks will arrive on the second, third and fourth Wednesday of the month for beneficiaries after 1997, in reality the payments will arrive later than usual.
We must keep in mind that each new month is totally different in terms of the organization of days. Depending on the day on which a month starts the payment schedule will be configured in one way or another. And that is what happens in December. Since this December starts on a Friday, disability beneficiaries will have an irregular month of payments.
Still, it’s a good idea to relax about the checks since we will get paid as we do every month. There is nothing to worry about, as the Social Security Administration will be sending out payments to all disability beneficiaries and all other retirees.
WHAT DAY WILL DISABILITY (SSDI) PAYMENTS BE MADE IN DECEMBER 2023?
For most of the payments this month we will have a slight change from the norm. So, let’s look at payment by payment to check on what day we will get our benefit.
The full schedule of disability benefit payments with all their particulars for December is as follows:
- December 1st. December Supplemental Security Income payment.
- December 1st. Another payment on this day. This payment is actually on December 3, but comes early. Only for pre-1997 beneficiaries.
- December 13th. Payment for post-1997 retirees with birthday between 1-10. We will have to wait until the third week to get the first of these payments.
- December 20th. Post-1997 disability retirees with birthdays between 11-20 will get payment on this day. This is the fourth week, later than usual.
- December 27th. Payment for post-1997 retirees with birthdays between 21-31 will arrive in the fifth week of the month, which is later than usual.
- December 29th. This payment is the January 2024 Supplemental Security Income payment. It will have the COLA included.
With this December calendar we will be able to mark the exact day our disability benefit will arrive at our bank. At least we will be able to know on what day the Administration will send it.
Getting the payment on the same day it is sent or not will depend on whether we have Direct Deposit activated. If this payment is activated and you have an activated SSI check and a retirement prior to 1997, you will be able to receive all the payments for the month on the 1st.
