Within any of the United States, each month’s new schedule of Social Security disability payments may have some exceptions. While it is true that following the usual schedule is very easy, sometimes we find that there are some irregularities in the schedule that force us to get our Social Security disability check later.
And this is what happens in the month of June. Even though the calendar follows the same guidelines as always, because of a special situation we will find that we will have to wait until the third week to get the check. This will be only for the second group of citizens with Social Security benefits. The first of the beneficiaries with a disability has already obtained their check in the past 2nd of June.
So if you are thinking of using this money to plan your vacation or pay bills, you should know that you will have to wait a little longer to receive it. The usual in these cases is to get the disability check in the second week of the month, but this time we will have to wait a little longer to get the money in our pockets.
Why is the June 2023 disability check arriving later?
The reason the June 2023 disability check will arrive a little later in June 2023 is because the month starts on a Thursday. Since the first day of the month was the previous Thursday, we now find that we have to wait two weeks for the check to arrive on the second Wednesday. Remember that the Social Security Administration divides retirees into two major groups:
- Pre-1997 retirees.
- Post-1997 retirees.
The first of these groups always receives their benefit on the 3rd day of the month, with some exceptions. In fact, this month we have an exception in this regard. The Social Security Administration sent the check for the disability benefit on the 2nd day because the 3rd day was a weekend.
Aside from this, we also have the other group, the post-1997 retirees. This group is further divided into three different groups. These groups always have their retirement check on the second, third and fourth Wednesday of the month. While it is customary in these cases for the Administration to send the checks in the second, third and fourth weeks of the month, in June 2023 this is slightly delayed.
And that is the main reason why we will receive check later than usual. Still, remember to activate Direct Deposit to avoid even more delays in receiving the benefit. You will receive your check in the third week, but with this collection method you will be able to enjoy your disability payment immediately.
When will Social Security send the next check?
Retirees who will receive their next payment on June 14th are only those born between the 1st and 10th of the month. It does not matter if the birthday is in the same month of June or in another month. The important thing to be able to have this benefit is to be retired for disability after 1997 and to have the birthday between those two days.
So by fulfilling these two requirements and having Direct Deposit activated we will be able to have the payment in just one week. After that, we will just have to wait a little longer. Retirees born between the 11th and 20th will be paid on June 21st.
Finally, if your birthday is between the 21st and 31st of the month the disability check could hit your pocket on the 28th day of June. After that, the next of the Social Security retirement checks will arrive in July.
