Any SSDI retiree who has a disability benefit in the United States can find out when they receive their check from the Administration each month. The money is sent by SSA on a monthly basis to any beneficiary who has an accepted benefit. This is the first requirement, because if SSA has not accepted the benefit first, we will not receive a check in the specified amount every month.
And although it may seem obvious, this may pose problems for more than one senior who thinks that once the minimum age is reached, the process is automatic. Each and every retiree who wants his or her Social Security pension must apply for it directly. Once applied for, the Administration will either accept or decline and grant the benefit. Only then, starting the following month, will the retiree begin to collect his or her check.
Of course, once the benefit is accepted, there is nothing else to do other than receive the monthly payment from Social Security. The days on which the Administration sends the payments are written on the calendar before the year begins. Providing the payment days makes it easier for retirees to better organize their household finances.
Social Security Disability calendar in March 2023
The March 2023 SSDI payment schedule is very easy to follow. In total, there are three different days to receive payment from the Social Security Administration. On each of these payments, a different group of retirees receives their SSDI check. And it doesn’t matter what type of retiree you are, whether you belong to one group or a different group.
The data to know if we belong to a group of retirees is related to the date of birth. Here is the full schedule of March retirement pension payments:
- March 8th. Payment day for retirees born between the 1st and 10th of the month. This day was the first of the entire month and pensioners in this group should already have the money in their pocket as of today.
- March 15th. Pensioners with birthdays between the 11th and 21st of the month receive check on this day. This is the next of the days when the SSDI check will reach pensioners.
- March 22nd. Pensioners born between the 21st and 31st of the month receive their benefit on this day. This is the last retirement payment in March.
With this information, we now know exactly on which day we will be able to collect our retirement pension. However, we must remember that these are the days on which the Social Security Administration sends the money. In order to receive it on the exact same day it is necessary to comply with another extra requirement. But there is nothing to worry about, as it is very easy to get it.
How to get your SSDI check quickly?
The fastest way to get a Social Security check, regardless of the type of benefit, is to use Direct Deposit. There are two methods for collecting SSDI payments. One is Direct Deposit itself and the other is by bank deposit. Both are equally effective, but one is infinitely faster.
If we choose to receive our Social Security payment by bank wire transfer, it can take up to 3 days for the money to arrive in our pocket. However, having Direct Deposit activated means that we can enjoy the money immediately. This is a really good thing, since we won’t have to wait even a minute to get the money.
The moment the Social Security Administration sends the money to our Direct Deposit we can have it. And it doesn’t matter if we’re talking about a Disability Pension, an Age Retirement payment or any other payment. Whatever the benefit, we will have it automatically thanks to this collection method.
Other Social Security payments
The Age or Disability Retirement Pension payment is not the only payment the Social Security Administration sends out each month. In addition to this payment, there is one called Supplemental Security Income. In order to receive this benefit, you must meet certain requirements:
- Be over 65 years of age.
- Have a disability or be blind.
However, these two requirements are not the only ones, since in addition to this we have to have low income and low resources. Regarding this, Social Security itself has a criterion that we can find through its official documentation.

Payments for this type of benefit are always made on the 1st of the month, with some exceptions. In the month of March, the 1st of the month payment arrived to all SSI recipients, whether by disability or age, without any problems. Also, in the month of March there is a second SSI check that will arrive at the end of the month.
Why are there two SSI checks in March?
As mentioned above, there are two SSI checks in March. This is because April 1st is a weekend. The Social Security Administration does not send payments on holidays or weekends, so it pays April SSI on the immediately preceding business day.
And that’s why we get two SSI checks in March. Despite this, we have to remember that this check actually belongs to April, so we should not think that we have extra SSI payment in March, but that next month’s payment comes early.
