When a retiree in the United States begins to collect his SSA benefit he begins to have some very big advantages. The first of those advantages is that he can know perfectly well on what day of the next month he will cash his check to spend it on whatever he wants. However, it is important to keep in mind that you will not get your next check until next month, so if you have no other income you will have to organize your money to use it every week.
The other big advantage is, without a doubt, that you won’t have to work anymore. This is true in most cases, although it is true that some Americans continue to work after applying for a SSA check. Regardless of this, we can know the day of the payment in advance.
And that is a great advantage because at the worker level, companies do not always send payment on the same day. There are some companies that pay earlier or later depending on the month. Well, that doesn’t happen with pensioner payments, at least most of the time.
The SSA sends out retirement checks on four different days during the month. Retirees get paid on one of these days, so they just have to know the criteria for getting paid on each of these days to determine when they will cash a check.
And this scheme is usually repeated every month, so we can already know on which day in October we will get the benefit, no matter what type of benefit we have or what our group is.
HOW ARE SOCIAL SECURITY PAYMENTS SET UP?
Even if we have an average SSA benefit of $1,800 per month or a maximum benefit of $4,555 per month, the payment will arrive on the same day. This will depend on which group we belong to. If we belong to group 1, we will get the payment on the first of the days. And the rest will get their check on the corresponding day.
To understand this, let’s see the criteria to be part of each of the groups:
- Group 1. Pensioners prior to 1997.
- Group 2. Beneficiaries after 1997 with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of any month.
- Group 3. Post-1997 retirees with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of the month.
- Group 4. Beneficiaries who have their benefit since after 1997 with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of the month.
With this information it is very easy to determine on which exact day of October we will get the payment. All we have to do is see which group we belong to and which day each group will be paid.
SSA PENSIONER PAYMENT CALENDAR FOR OCTOBER
In the month of October in particular we do not have any irregularities in the payment of SSA pensions. Therefore, retirees can know well in advance when they will cash their checks.
On the one hand, group 1 has October 3rd as their payment day. This is the first of the month’s payments and only those in group 1 have access to it. Usually the 3rd of each month is the day of this payment.
On the other hand we have groups 2, 3 and 4, who get their benefit on the second, third and fourth Wednesday of the month. In the case of October those days are the 11th, 18th and 25th, respectively. So retirees in group 2 receive their SSA on the 11th, retirees in group 3 on the 18th and, finally, pensioners in group 3 get their SSA on October 25th.
What will happen with November payments? During the month of November we will be able to enjoy several holidays, so it is important to know the payment days in order to know when we will get our check.
