Before the end of next week in August 2024, thousands of United States citizens will be able to have two different Social Security checks in their checking accounts. Ultimately, having one of these checks is possible in the case of being eligible for the last retirement payment, but in addition to that, it is possible to get a second payment before the end of the week.
Undoubtedly, having the possibility of getting two different checks in the last days of August can be a financial relief for United States citizens. Social Security payments can carry very large amounts, so it all depends directly on whether we are eligible or not. If we are eligible, we may get one payment on August 28th and another on August 30th of the same month.
If we are not eligible, it is true that we could still get three different checks in August. But it all depends on whether we have both benefits accepted and the collection method we have activated. If we don’t activate the faster collection method, Social Security could send the checks but we wouldn’t get them within the month, they would be available a few days later.
Two Social Security payments within the next week
As we have already mentioned, before the end of the last week of August we could get two checks from Social Security. These two checks would be the retirement payment and the Supplemental Security Income check. It is true that in August we have already gotten the Supplemental Security Income for the month, but the next of these payments is actually an extra payment that arrives earlier due to an irregularity in the calendar.
To get both payments in the next week of August, let’s consider what the requirements are for each payment:
- August 28th. Payment for post-May 1997 retirees with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of any month.
- August 30th. Supplemental Security Income payment for all Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries.
By qualifying on the 28th and having SSI accepted, we will be able to access all of these Social Security checks within the last week of August. However, if we do not activate Direct Deposit as a collection method we will not be able to get the money within the same days of mailing.
Still, there is nothing to worry about, since Social Security will send out the check in those days and we will get them a few days later. It is true that without Direct Deposit we will not collect the payment within August, but we will have the check in our checking account a little later.
