One of the great advantages of being able to collect a Social Security retirement check in the United States is knowing when we will receive each monthly payment. But the truth is that some Americans have to wait a little longer than others each month to receive their benefits. This means that some Americans have their check available in the first week while others have to wait longer.
And this will happen in the month of April, where we will see up to four different payments that we will receive sooner or later depending on which Social Security group we belong to. Group 1 retirees will get their check on April 3rd, but the rest will have to wait until later weeks to finally get it.
Who will receive Social Security later in April?
The Social Security payment days in April 2025 will be four different days: the 3rd, the 9th, the 16th and the 23rd. Any of these days can be a payment day for us if we are eligible. Just knowing what the requirements are for each payment day is more than enough.
The first of these payments will be on April 3rd, 2025, and will only go to retirees with a benefit prior to May 1997. If you applied for this check before that day, you will be able to enjoy that payment on that specific day, but otherwise you will have to wait.
Thus, the subsequent payment days in April 2025 will be as follows, along with their requirements:
- April 9th. Payment for retirees after May 1997 with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of any month.
- April 16th. Payment for retirees after May 1997 with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of any month.
- April 23rd. Payment for pensioners after May 1997 with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of any month.
Remember that if you don’t have Direct Deposit activated you can’t get the payment on these specific days, you have to wait a bit until you finally have the money in your bank account. But if you have Direct Deposit activated and you are part of one of these Social Security groups, you won’t have to wait another day to get the benefit money.
More Social Security payments in April
In addition to all these payments, there will be an extra Social Security payment in April 2025. This payment will be the Supplemental Security Income, also commonly known as SSI. This check can be as much as $967 per month and is only for the neediest citizens.
If this payment is accepted, we will be able to receive it on the 1st of April and it is fully compatible with the Social Security benefit payment. So if you have a retirement or disability check, you will also be able to receive this payment if you are eligible.
