Each group of retirees gets their United States Social Security Disability payment earlier or later. The exact day depends on whether they are in Group 1, Group 2, Group 3 or Group 4. And each of the groups has very specific characteristics. It is true that the type of retirement does not matter for getting a check earlier or later, so it does not matter whether the payment is SSDI or another benefit.
Pay attention to the requirements if you have not yet gotten your Social Security Disability check within the month of August. If you haven’t received it, you may be able to access the check in the next few weeks, and you’ll be able to seamlessly enjoy a payment of up to $3,822 for SSDI or up to $4,873 for Age Retirement.
Requirements for the August 14th Disability Payment
Getting the next August 14th payment is possible only for group 2 retirees. Social Security beneficiaries who get this Disability payment are those who meet all the requirements.
To be part of group 2 of retirees it is mandatory that:
- The beneficiary has had a check for Disability or other reason since after May 1997.
- The beneficiary’s birthday is between the 1st and 10th of any month.
As a result of being in this group of retirees, we will be able to get a check on August 14th, 2024. Retirees who do not meet these requirements will get their payment in August as well, but on some of the remaining days.
As for the collection method, it is true that the Disability check arrives earlier if we activate Direct Deposit, but it is not a mandatory collection method. Whether it is earlier or later, we will still get the money if we meet the above requirements.
Can I change the day of the Disability collection?
The truth is that if we take into account what are the requirements to be part of a specific group of beneficiaries we can clearly discover that it is not possible to change the day of the collection. Social Security retirement payments, regardless of whether they are for Disability or another type of benefit, depend on the year of retirement and the day of birth.
For that reason, changing the day of collection is really impossible. So we must always keep in mind that the Social Security payment will arrive each month on an approximate date. As a rule of thumb, the Disability payment arrives for group 1 on the 3rd day of the month. Groups 2, 3 and 4 get their benefit on the second, third and fourth Wednesday of the month, respectively.
So, knowing which group of retirees we belong to, we can mark on the calendar the day of collection of the Disability payment. However, remember that if that day is a holiday or weekend, the payment is changed to the immediately preceding working day.
