The payments that the United States government sends to SSI recipients generally arrive every month. Even so, this check, also known as Supplemental Security Income, may not arrive in some months. The Social Security Administration pays checks for this benefit on the 1st of the month, with some exceptions.
And when that exception appears on the calendar, the calendar changes completely. So if you have an accepted SSI benefit, it’s good to know that we’re looking at something like this for the month of September.
Recipients who have a Supplemental Security Income or SSI check will be able to enjoy an irregularity next month. This irregularity will affect all recipients, or at least the vast majority. While it is true that this is the case, in order to take full advantage of the benefit, it is necessary to have a particular form of payment activated.
SSI IRREGULARITY IN SEPTEMBER
The SSI payment will arrive twice in September. Yes, just as you have read. Beneficiaries who have this benefit previously accepted will be able to enjoy a double check in the coming month. Social Security will send two payments of this benefit to all beneficiaries.
However, this means that the payment schedule changes a bit. The payment is not actually an extra check, but the advance payment for the month of October. Therefore, in October we will not receive SSI as usual.
The reason for this is because the 1st of the month is Sunday. When this occurs, the payment is sent on the immediately preceding business day. In this case, the payment will be sent on September 29th.
REQUIREMENTS FOR SUPPLEMENTAL SECURITY INCOME
In order to receive an SSI check every month, two requirements must be met. Citizens who do not meet all the requirements will not be able to collect the payment of up to $914 of this benefit.
The first of these requirements is to be 65 years of age or older. In addition to that, citizens with a disability can also apply for this benefit. For this second group, age is not important, but having a disability justified by doctors. Without official documentation it is not possible to apply for the monthly Supplemental Security Income.
On the other hand, there is a requirement related to the standard of living. In order to obtain the SSI payment every month, it is mandatory to have low income and low economic resources. The amount of income we have each month will determine the amount of Supplemental Security Income we receive. The maximum check is $914, but there is no minimum payment.
