Before the end of the week, many United States citizens will enjoy a new Disability payment. This benefit will reach thousands of Americans who are part of a particular group of retirees. The first thing to know is that the extra $59 will not reach all the beneficiaries who cash their checks. That’s because the $59 amount refers to the average increase Social Security makes for all types of benefits it sends out each month. That’s why some Americans get a larger increase and others get a smaller increase.
So you should know what your increase is based on what your disability check was in the previous year. Any payment you collected from Social Security now has 3.2% more in 2024. Knowing this, you just need to know what the requirements are to get the payment before the end of the week.
In total there are two mandatory requirements to collect a retirement check this week. And it doesn’t matter the type of retirement, since it can be SSDI or any other different type of check. What matters is that it be a Social Security pensioner.
The two requirements are to have had the check accepted since after 1997 and to have a birthday between the 1st and 10th of the month. This makes the Social Security payment on January 10th, 2024. Whether you get it on the same day or before the end of the week depends on whether you have Direct Deposit activated or not.
How to claim back Social Security?
If we belong to the group that should collect a Social Security check, disability or otherwise, and we don’t get it on time we can always claim the payment. There are two main ways to claim this payment and it is necessary to go step by step.
The first step is to contact our bank. This is because the bank could withhold the money from the payment for various reasons. If we have any debts or the personal information is incorrect the bank will not let the Social Security check reach our pocket.
If after contacting the bank it turns out that we have not found a solution, then we should contact Social Security directly. Through contact with the Administration we will be able to find out if there is a problem with our disability benefit or not.
