Thousands of United States Social Security Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients will have the opportunity to get an extra check before the end of 2023. This extra check, in addition, will be higher in amount than the rest of the payments for this year 2023 due to the COLA.
In case a citizen wants to get this extra payment to be able to use it before the end of the year he/she must have several requirements. Therefore, not all Americans with a Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment will be able to get this benefit in advance. These mandatory requirements are critical to getting the payment.

HOW TO GET 2 SUPPLEMENTAL SECURITY INCOME CHECKS IN DECEMBER 2023?
In order to get these two checks, you only need to meet two requirements. If we have already accepted the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment, we will have already met half of the conditions.
However, it should be noted that the second of these checks is not an additional payment or anything of the sort. This payment is actually an advance of next year’s payment. So we will get the payment earlier, which means that the next of the checks we will already have when the date arrives.
The requirements are:
- Have Supplemental Security Income (SSI) accepted in advance.
- Activate Direct Deposit as a payment method.
Having these two requirements accepted, we will be able to get two different checks of this benefit during the days of December. The first one with a maximum of $914 and the second one with a maximum of $943.
WHEN WILL THE TWO DECEMBER SSI PAYMENTS ARRIVE?
The first of these payments will be on the usual date. Therefore, the first December Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment will be on the 1st of the last month of 2023. The second payment will arrive at the end of the month.
The exact date of the second payment, which has a maximum check of $943, will be on the 29th of December. This payment actually belongs to the January 2024 payment schedule. For that reason the check will be larger, as it has next year’s COLA included.
The exact reason the Social Security Administration will send this check earlier is because January 1st is a holiday. In this type of situation the Administration sends the check on the immediately preceding business day, which is December 29th in this case.
